Our Impact

MEET Ruth Nantogo

Ruth Nantogo, a 12-year-old at Kitende Primary, dreams of becoming a nurse. Her school once lacked books and clean water, making learning tough. LYD stepped in with new textbooks, computers, and a WASH water point. We also built separate toilets for girls and provided hygiene training. Ruth’s story shows how education opens doors.

MEET Mwala Women SACCO

In 2022, with YLD’s training in business and financial management, Mwala SACCO was birthed, and has grown to over 89 members. The group now runs a thriving credit association, helping women start businesses. Their success shows the power of community and skills. By 2029, we aim to support thousands more women through cooperatives.

MEET MARIAM NAMUTEBI

When Mariam finished secondary school, she joined LYD’s Youth Livelihood program. Seven months after, she set up a shop that sells high-quality leather purses and belts, earning a profit to support her and her mother. Liveheed Youth Organization has trained hundreds of youth like her . By 2029, we hope to have reached thousands more.

MEET Jane Nakyemba

She’s a 35-year-old farmer from Matugga who transformed her family’s future with a loan from LYD. She combined it with her savings to invest in her 2-acre garden. In the 2024 season, she earned more than the previous year on the same land with minimal extra input. This boost allowed her to cover school fees for her children and meet daily household needs.
