Empowering Uganda’s Future

One Child, One Woman at a Time

We empower vulnerable communities with education, clean water, health care, and livelihood skills. Our story is about resilience, compassion, and a commitment to Uganda’s future. Join us in building a brighter future for Uganda’s most vulnerable.

SINCE 2018

WHO WE ARE

Liveheed Youth Development was born from one man’s dream to change lives. Mr. Waiswa Moses, raised by a single mother in Uganda, saw firsthand the struggles of vulnerable kids and women. In 2018, he founded LYD to give them hope, education, and opportunities. He started this journey with a dream to give kids and women the opportunities he fought for growing up.

Despite early challenges, we’ve grown into a trusted non-profit (License No. 2019/02/1946, Registration No. 2169/2022/4/6), serving Katale Seguku with programs in education, health, water, and livelihoods. Today, we work with communities, partners, and donors to create lasting change.

Our vision is a Uganda where every child learns, every family thrives, and every woman has the tools to succeed. We believe in working together with communities, partnering with local leaders, and ensuring transparency.

0 %

of Young Minds Left Behind.

In Uganda, 65% of the children aged 3-5 miss early learning, which leads to  poor school performance in later years. Our organization counters this by equipping 20 schools with books and teacher training, ensuring children build strong foundations for brighter futures.

0 %

of youth face neet status.

Over 42% of Uganda’s 18-30-year-olds face NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) status. We empower them with vocational training, teaching skills like leatherwork and entrepreneurship to spark self-reliant careers and community growth.

0 %

Wage Gap in Fields.

Ugandan women handle 70% of farm labor yet earn 32.3% less, trapping families in poverty. Our organization’s agriculture loans and cooperatives, like Mwala SACCO with $20,000 in savings, help women double incomes and secure their economic independence.

EDUCATION

Education is the cornerstone of our work. We equip schools with books, digital tools, and teacher training, helping children learn and grow.

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)

Our WASH program has brought safe drinking water and hygiene facilities to thousands of schoolchildren and their families.

Community Health

Healthy communities start with access to care. From basic care to specialized support, we’re committed to making health care accessible to all.

Agriculture

Farming is a lifeline for many families, and we’re helping them grow stronger. We provide loans and training in modern farming techniques, livestock rearing, and food processing.

2025 - 2029

our objectives

At Liveheed Youth Development, our work is driven by a bold vision for Uganda’s future. For 2025–2029, we’ve set three ambitious objectives to transform the lives of vulnerable children, youth, and women in Uganda.

01 / 03

Objectives

Improve Child Education and Protection

Every child deserves a chance to learn and grow safely. By 2029, Liveheed Youth Development aims to improve education and protection for over 350,000 vulnerable children in Uganda. Our programs include vocational training, life skills, and safe spaces like playgrounds and innovation centers. Help us give every child a bright future by supporting our education initiatives or learn more about our impact today.

02 / 03

Objectives

Expand Access to WASH and Community Health

Access to clean water and health care transforms communities. By 2029, LYD aims to provide water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and health services to over 145,000 children and 250,000 community members. We’ve already built some bio-gas restaurants, 100 pit privies, and water points in a number of schools, reaching kids with clean water. Our health clinics serve 20,000 people yearly, with 85% safe deliveries and HIV/AIDS support.

03 / 03

Objectives

Enhance Livelihoods for over 350,000 Households

Strong livelihoods lift families out of poverty. By 2029, LYD aims to enhance livelihoods for more than 300,000 households through skills training, women’s cooperatives, and agriculture. Our programs teach business skills, livestock rearing, and modern farming, ensuring sustainable growth. By fostering self-help groups and cooperatives, we empower women and youth to lead. You can help us reach more families with the tools to thrive.

SUCCESS STORIES

our impact

MEET Ruth Nantogo

Ruth Nantogo, a 12-year-old at Kitende Primary, dreams of becoming a nurse. Her school once lacked books and clean water, making learning tough. LYD stepped in with new textbooks, computers, and a WASH water point. We also built separate toilets for girls and provided hygiene training. Ruth’s story shows how education opens doors.

MEET Mwala Women SACCO

In 2022, with YLD’s training in business and financial management, Mwala SACCO was birthed, and has grown to over 89 members. The group now runs a thriving credit association, helping women start businesses. Their success shows the power of community and skills. By 2029, we aim to support thousands more women through cooperatives.

MEET MARIAM NAMUTEBI

When Mariam finished secondary school, she joined LYD’s Youth Livelihood program. Seven months after, she set up a shop that sells high-quality leather purses and belts, earning a profit to support her and her mother. Liveheed Youth Organization has trained hundreds of youth like her . By 2029, we hope to have reached thousands more.
